Ms. Uyterhoeven of Somerville moves to amend the bill in section 2, by inserting after item 1596-2602 the following item: “xxxx-xxxx For a reserve to offset reductions in federal funding impacting staffing levels and the needs of students at the Commonwealth’s public higher education institutions; provided that at the close of fiscal year 2026 any unspent balance shall be made available to improve staff and faculty wage rates in order to make them more comparable with the national average, accounting for the cost of living………………………………………………………….$200,000,000
