Further Amendment #348.1 to H4000

 

Mr. Lewis of Framingham moves to amend amendment 348 by striking out the amendment in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the following:-

 

by inserting after section 67 the following section:-

 

SECTION X. (a) Not later than January 1, 2026, each school district shall provide to the department of elementary and secondary education data for school year 2024 to 2025 and the first half of school year 2025 to 2026 for: (i) the number of single teams at a school in a particular sport established consistent with rule 43.2 of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association “Rules and Regulations Governing Athletics A Handbook for Principals and Athletic Directors” in effect for July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2025, inclusive; (ii) any single team at a school in a particular sport pursuant to clause (i), the number of individuals participating that are not restricted based on eligibility and authorized to play on said team pursuant to said rule 43.2; (iii) the number of games played by the teams pursuant to clause (i); (iv) the records of the teams pursuant to clause (i), including wins and losses; (v) the numbers of games that were played by the teams pursuant to clause (i) against any other single teams at another school in a particular sport pursuant to clause (i); (vi) the number of injuries sustained as a result of participation under said single teams in a particular sport, if any; (vii) if applicable, whether there is a restriction that is necessary to ensure that the school’s gendered designation of athletic opportunities complies with Title IX, either by demonstrating proportionality or the absence of unmet interest among members of the underrepresented sex; and (viii) any other information the department deems necessary. These data from each school district shall be delineated by school.

 

(b) Not later than March 7, 2026, the department of elementary and secondary education shall report on data collected from each school district pursuant to subsection (a) to the house and senate committees on ways and means and the joint committee on education. The report shall aggregate data and identify trends related to any data collection pursuant to subsection (a).
