Teacher Apprenticeship

Mr. Kushmerek of Fitchburg moves to amend the bill in section 2, in item 1596-2517, by inserting after the word “projects” the following words:-

For the creation and funding of a two-year, accelerated, tuition-free pilot program, to bring paraprofessional educators to a bachelors level certification and licensure in teaching; provided further, The Department shall administer funds to three Gateway City communities, with a population under 50,000, which host a four-year public institution with an accredited college or department of education within city limits, and that such funds shall be used for, but not limited to, providing tuition, corresponding enrollment fees, student support services and a paid student stipend;  provided further, that upon successful completion of studies, said host public school district shall offer guaranteed, full-time employment at commensurate level; provided further that as a condition of funding all such programs shall be subject to an evaluation by the Department and said funding shall be contingent upon partnerships between the host Gateway City communities and the corresponding higher education institutions….. $1,050,000
