An Act Requiring the Department of Public Health to Establish a Cannabis-Related Health Surveillance System
Mr. Kearney of Scituate moves to amend the bill Section X
The Department of Public Health shall establish and maintain a surveillance system to collect, monitor, and report data related to adverse health outcomes associated with cannabis use, including but not limited to:
1 Cases of cannabis-induced psychosis diagnosed in emergency departments, hospitals, and outpatient settings;
2 Incidents of cannabis hyperemesis syndrome reported to healthcare providers;
3 Any other significant cannabis-related health conditions as identified by the Department.
The Department shall collaborate with healthcare providers, hospitals, poison control centers, and the Cannabis Control Commission to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
The Department shall publish an annual report summarizing trends, prevalence, and demographic data related to cannabis-associated health conditions and shall make this report publicly available.
