Amendment #16 to H4530

Medical Upcoding

Mr. Day of Stoneham moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:-

SECTION XX. The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall, through a competitively bid process, solicit billing code auditing services from a qualified provider. Said audit shall determine how services rendered to MassHealth members are billed and identify any discrepancies between how procedures are performed and coded by providers, billed by hospitals and paid out by plans.
