Floor Amendment

Mr. Walsh of Peabody moves to amend the bill by striking out section 1 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

“SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding section 1 of chapter 31 of the General Laws; chapter 17 of the acts of 2018; or any other general or special law to the contrary, the maximum age of eligibility for a retired police officer of the city of Malden to be appointed to the position of special police officers in the city of Malden shall be 70 years of age.

(b) A special police officer appointed pursuant to this act or chapter 17 of the acts of 2018 shall comply with all requirements of chapter 6E of the General Laws, including: (i) maintaining certification and good standing with the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission; and (ii) complying with all annual in-service and other training requirements mandated by the municipal police training committee.”.
