Amendment #54 to H4601

No-Cost Calls

Mr. Sweezey of Duxbury moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

SECTION XXXX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Department of Corrections, a sheriff or the sheriff’s designee may limit the duration or frequency of no-cost telephone calls provided to inmates under the department’s no-cost calls program if such limitation is reasonably necessary to manage the financial or operational capacity of the correctional facility or to support inmate rehabilitation and participation in educational, vocational, or behavioral programming.
