Escalating Penalties for Recidivism

Mr. Vaughn of Wrentham moves to amend the bill by striking out subsection (b) and inserting in place thereof the following subsection:-

“(b) Violation of any provision of this section shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000 for a first offense; not more than $5,000 for a second offense; and not more than $10,000 for each subsequent offense occurring within the same two-year election cycle. Compliance with this section does not exempt a person from civil or criminal liability for violations of other applicable law.”
