Tax Deduction for Utility Costs

Mr. Soter of Bellingham moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION XXX. Section 3 of Chapter 62 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after paragraph B., subparagraph 20 the following subparagraph:-

 (21) An amount equal to the amount paid in electric, gas, propane gas, and oil utilities for the taxable year; provided, however, that the deduction allowed under this paragraph shall not exceed three thousand dollars.

 This section shall take effect upon passage and the deduction shall remain in effect until December 31, 2026.”
