Vehicle Inspection Exemptions for Vintage Automobiles 50 Years or Older

Mr. Howitt of Seekonk moves to amend the bill by adding the following section: 

“SECTION X. Section 7A of Chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2024 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end of the first paragraph the following:

The registrar shall adopt rules and regulations to exempt all motor vehicles manufactured 50 years ago or earlier from the annual vehicle safety inspection program. A motor vehicle exempt under this section that changes ownership shall be required to have a vehicle safety inspection performed within seven days of being registered by the new owner.”
