Merrimack River Regional Marine Enforcement and Safety Initiative

Representatives Paulino of Methuen, Hamilton of Methuen and Reyes of Lawrence move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 8000-0313, by adding the following words:- “provided further, that not less than $50,000 shall be expended for the city of Methuen, in coordination with the cities of Lawrence and Andover, for the establishment and operation of regional harbormaster and marine public safety functions, including training, patrol coordination, enforcement, and emergency response capacity along the Merrimack River, to address increased vessel traffic, enhance public safety, and protect the river as a shared drinking water resource”; and in said item by striking out the figures “$100,000” and inserting in place thereof the figures “$150,000”.
