Uniformed Services Inclusion in Veteran Definition

Mr. Kearney of Scituate moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION ____. Clause Forty-third of section 7 of chapter 4 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2024 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word ‘army,’ the following words:- ‘the commissioned corps of the United States public health service, the commissioned corps of the national oceanic and atmospheric administration,’.

Said clause Forty-third is hereby further amended by adding the following paragraph:-

Service in the commissioned corps of the United States public health service or the commissioned corps of the national oceanic and atmospheric administration shall be deemed to be active service in the armed forces for the purposes of this clause.”
