Amendment #1318 to H5500

Conditional WFMA Undocumented Immigrant Transparency

Representatives Jones of North Reading, Ferguson of Holden, Frost of Auburn, Muradian of Grafton, Vieira of Falmouth and Smola of Warren move to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION X. Section 7 of chapter 81 of the Acts of 2022 is hereby amended, by adding the following subsection:-

“(c) Said regulations shall, at a minimum, require the registrar of motor vehicles to provide information on the holder of a Massachusetts license to any city or town clerk seeking to verify the identity and eligibility of any individual using a Massachusetts license to vote or to register to vote. Said regulations shall, at a minimum, require the registrar of motor vehicles to provide information on the holder of a Massachusetts license in response to a request from any state law enforcement agency pursuant to an investigation. This subsection shall take effect only upon the effective date of any law enacted pursuant to establishing same-day or election day voter registration in the Commonwealth.”
