Amendment #1342 to H5500

Hunting Regulation Modernization

Mr. Kearney of Scituate moves to amend the bill by adding the following sections:-

“SECTION ____. Chapter 131 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2024 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 59 the following section:-

Section 59A. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, hunting shall be permitted on Sundays, subject to rules and regulations promulgated by the director of the division of fisheries and wildlife; provided, that such regulations shall ensure public safety and appropriate landowner protections.

SECTION ____. Said chapter 131 is hereby further amended by striking out, in section 69, any restrictions on the use of crossbows by persons meeting specific criteria and inserting in place thereof the following words:- crossbows shall be permitted for use by all licensed hunters in accordance with regulations established by the division.

SECTION ____. Said section 58 of said chapter 131, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out, in lines __ to __, the words ‘150 feet’ and inserting in place thereof the following words:- 250 feet.”
