Amendment #1679 to H5500

Tewksbury Hospital Minimal Security Standards (Redrafted)

Representatives Robertson of Tewksbury and Garry of Dracut move to amend the bill by adding the following:

Notwithstanding any regulation; procedure; or protocol promulgated or approved by the Department of Public Health; Department of Mental Health and/or the Executive Office of Health and Human Services, the Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management,

 

Any Security Team Specialists, or successor employees and agencies or subdivisions of the Commonwealth working at the Tewksbury Hospital Public Safety Department charged with public or private safety shall have permission to use intervene and detain any individual on campus and are permitted the use of tactical defense tools including but not limited to pepper gel; batons; and handcuffs so long as the Security Team Specialists or their successors so long as they are AVADE system certified.

 

The Tewksbury Hospital Public Safety Department or any successor public safety agency shall always be provided with a properly equipped police vehicle, complaint with M.G.L. Chapter 90 section 7E,  for use of enforcing this act, patrols, patient or staff transit, or any other use necessary and any other use designated by the Director of Safety, Security, and Emergency Management at Tewksbury Hospital or Tewksbury Hospital Public Safety Department Chief, or their successors.
