Amendment #1734 to H5500
Drink Spiking Data Collection and Education Initiatives
Mr. Lawn of Watertown moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:
SECTION XXXX:
Section xx. (a) There shall be a Bureau of Involuntary Substance Exposure Prevention within the department of public health.
(b) The bureau shall establish and advertise a free, anonymous and confidential toll-free telephone helpline to collect data about the drink spiking incidence and prevalence across the Commonwealth and provide comprehensive, accurate and current information and referrals for support services. The helpline shall be a resource for emergency departments, health centers, families, social workers, individuals in need and medical professionals.
(c) The bureau shall establish a website that informs the public of how to report these incidents.
Not less than $125,000 shall be provided to the department for these initiatives.
