Vehicle Inspection Exemption for Vintage Automobiles

Mr. Howitt of Seekonk moves to amend the bill by adding the following section: 

“SECTION X.  Section 7A of Chapter 90 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding at the end of the first paragraph the following:

The registrar shall adopt rules and regulations to exempt all motor vehicles manufactured 50 years ago or earlier from the annual vehicle safety inspection program. A motor vehicle exempt under this section that changes ownership shall be required to have a vehicle safety inspection performed within seven days of being registered by the new owner.”
