Amendment #689 to H5500

Louis D. Brown Peace Institute

Mr. Worrell of Boston moves that the bill be amended in Section 2, in item 4513-1098, by striking out item 4513-1098 and inserting in place thereof the following item:

“4513-1098 … For the provision of statewide support services for survivors of homicide victims, including outreach services, burial assistance, grief counseling and other support services; provided, that funds shall be expended as grants in the aggregate amount of not less than $850,000 to the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Corporation, a community-based support organization dedicated to serving families and communities impacted by violence; and provided further, that the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute Corporation shall establish and administer a process to distribute not less than $150,000 to the Massachusetts Survivors of Homicide Victims Network organizations throughout the commonwealth in the form of grants....................$1,000,000”
