Amendment #23 to H5562

Increasing language offerings for licensure exams

Mr. LeBoeuf of Worcester moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION XXXX.

SECTION 1. Section 87V of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the second sentence the following sentence:- The board shall offer all practical and written examinations in the following languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese and Haitian Creole.

SECTION 2. Section 65 of chapter 146 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following paragraph:-

The division of occupational licensure shall make both written and practical examinations available in the languages of English and Spanish to operator of hoisting machinery applicants if the criteria for licensure established by the commissioner of the division of occupational licensure pursuant to section fifty-three are met by the applicant.

SECTION 3. Section 6B of chapter 149 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following paragraph:-

The commissioner shall offer the application and examination for a license issued or renewed pursuant to this section in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and may offer the application and examination in any other language."".
