EA Shelter Public Safety Investigation

Mr. Fattman and Ms. Dooner move that the proposed new text be amended by inserting after section X the following new section:-

“SECTION X. The senate committee on post audit and oversight shall conduct an investigation into the emergency housing assistance program’s security lapses and shortcomings which have compromised public safety, health and security. The committee shall focus on, but not be limited to, investigating the admission process of families and individuals into the emergency housing assistance program, and investigating the established protocols for shelter placement removal based on conduct and behavior. The committee may utilize all statutorily established investigatory and subpoena power to review relevant documents and communications to identify any public safety, public health, and security deficiencies of the emergency housing assistance program. Upon review of all relevant documentation and communication, the committee shall publish a report of its findings and provide program recommendations to enhance public safety, public health, and security, no later than September 12, 2025, which shall be submitted to the clerks of the house of representatives and senate.”
