Provision for Students with Individualized Education Plans

Ms. Friedman and Mr. Collins move that the proposed new draft be amended in section 2, by inserting the following subsection:-

(h) Each public school individualized education program team shall have an affirmative duty to identify students on their caseload who may be permitted to use and possess a personal electronic device under subsection (b). The individualized education program team shall initiate consideration of the need for permitted use and possession of a personal electronic device during individualized education program development or review, and shall actively advocate for a student’s access to a personal electronic device where the team determines it is necessary to support a student’s educational, medical or functional needs.
