Permitting Language Access Use of Personal Electronic Devices

Mr. Ultrino of Malden moves to amend the bill in section 2, line 104, after the word “emergency” by inserting the following clause:

“(v) the superintendent of the district or designee provides in writing that the use of a personal electronic device is necessary for the translation, interpretation, and transliteration purposes of a student; provided that the district shall authorize a student to use a personal electronic device only to the extent where it will provide language access for a student to adequately understand educational materials and participate in activities during the school day.”
