Intended age and grade level disclosure on library catalogs

Mr. Tarr, Mrs. Dooner and Mr. Fattman move that the proposed new draft be amended by inserting after section Section 82C the following new section:-

"SECTION 82D. Each school district, charter school and local education agency shall require that each school library's existing electronic catalog, whether locally hosted or web-based, clearly indicate the intended age or grade level designation for each book or other material in the collection. Such designation shall be based on professional standards of library science and educational practice, and shall be visible to students, parents, guardians, and school personnel when searching or browsing the catalog. The catalog shall be updated as new materials are acquired or reclassified, and the age or grade level designation shall be included as a searchable field."
