Removal of Materials that have become outdated or to accommodate new materials

Mr. Tarr, Mrs. Dooner and Mr. Fattman move that the proposed new draft be amended by striking subsection (d) lines 20-23 in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the following:-

"(d) Nothing in this section shall preclude school employees responsible for school library content from removing materials that are outdated, damaged, superseded by new editions, or otherwise no longer serve an educational purpose, or from making space to accommodate new acquisitions; provided, however, that any such removal shall be made in good faith, documented in writing, and based on professional standards of library science and educational practice, and shall not be made on the basis of personal preference, political ideology, or doctrinal belief."
