Post‑Election Audits for All Statewide Elections
Mr. Tarr moves that the proposed new draft be amended by inserting after section _ the following section:-
"SECTION_. Chapter 54 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 109A the following section:—
Section 109B. Post‑Election Audits for Statewide Elections.
Following any general election at which one or more statewide offices appear on the ballot, the state secretary shall conduct a post‑election audit of voting machines and ballots in not less than 3 per cent of all precincts. The audit shall be conducted in the same manner as an audit conducted under section 109A of chapter 54, including the random selection of precincts and the hand counting of ballots.
The audit shall include all statewide offices appearing on the ballot, including but not limited to Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Treasurer, Auditor, United States Senator, and any statewide ballot questions. The state secretary may designate additional offices or questions to be included in the audit.
The results of the audit shall be reported publicly in the same form and on the same timeline as required under section 109A of chapter 54."
