Amendment #6 to S2916
Ballot Questions
Representatives Jones of North Reading, Ferguson of Holden, Frost of Auburn, Muradian of Grafton, Vieira of Falmouth and Smola of Warren move to amend the bill in section 2, in line 14, by striking the word “section” and inserting in place thereof the words “two sections”
and by inserting after line 27 the following:-
“Section 22 A ¾. All questions raised by interested parties regarding the legality of proposed statewide initiative petitions and Constitutional amendments, or questions regarding the accuracy of the summary of a proposed ballot question, shall be filed with the Supreme Judicial Court for a determination before the secretary prepares blank signature collection forms and provides them to the proponents. If the Supreme Judicial Court rules that these concerns are valid, the court shall provide an opportunity for the text and summary of the ballot question to be revised and corrected.”
