By striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting in place thereof the following:–
SECTION 1. A candidate for the position of city councilor and school committee member who is elected to represent an individual ward shall have resided within the ward, or for the positions of mayor or councilor-at-large shall have resided within the city of Brockton, for which they are chosen for election for at least 1 year immediately preceding their election.
Such person shall be removed from office and the office declared vacant when the person no longer resides within the ward for the position of city councilor and school committee member or no longer resides within the city of Brockton for the positions of mayor or councilor-at-large.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
