Schooner Ernestina-Morrissey

Messrs. Montigny and Fernandes move that the proposed new text be amended  in section 2, in item 7066-8007, by adding the following words:- "; provided further, that not less than $20,000,000 shall be expended for the Massachusetts Maritime Academy to provide the capital needs and equipment necessary to maintain the schooner SSV Ernestina-Morrissey for educational programming including, but not limited to: (i) infrastructure needs to maintain the vessel in its homeport of the city of New Bedford; and (ii) an education center adjacent to the vessel’s berthing space at the New Bedford state pier for cadets and students to explore the vessel’s Cape Verdean heritage and immigration routes, the history of the local working waterfront and sail training with an emphasis on maritime career pathways"; and by striking out the figure "$1,000,000" and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- "$21,000,000".
