Mr. Collins moved that the proposed new text be amended by inserting before section 4, the following section:-
"SECTION A4. Subsection(a) of said section 7 of chapter 4 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out Clause Eighteenth, as appearing in the 2024 Official Edition, and inserting in place thereof the following clause:-
Eighteenth, ''Legal holiday'' shall include January first, March seventeenth, June seventeenth, June nineteenth, July fourth, November eleventh, and Christmas Day, or the day following when any of said days occurs on a Sunday, and the third Monday in January, the third Monday in February, the third Monday in April, the last Monday in May, the first Monday in September, the second Monday in October, and Thanksgiving Day.”; and
By inserting after section 36 the following 2 sections:-
“SECTION 36A. Chapter 136 of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out section 12, as so appearing, and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
Section 12. The public offices shall be closed on all legal holidays May twentieth.
SECTION 36B. Section 13 of said chapter 136, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 4 and 5, the words “March seventeenth, the third Monday in April, May twentieth, June seventeenth” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- the third Monday in April, May twentieth.”.
