Water Access Standards

Mrs. Dooner moves that the proposed new draft be amended in section 7, in proposed subsection (f) of section 174E of chapter 140 of the General Laws, in paragraph (i), by striking out the words “appropriate food and water based on the animal’s species, age or physical condition” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “appropriate food and continuous access to clean, potable, uncontaminated water based on the animal’s species, age or physical condition”; and

In said section 7, in proposed subsection (f) of said section 174E, in paragraph (i), by adding the following sentence:- “For the purposes of this subsection, water shall not be deemed clean, potable and uncontaminated if it is mixed with animal waste, garbage or other hazardous or noxious substances, or if the animal’s sole access to water is from a toilet or other unsanitary source.”
