Remediating State Sites for Housing

Messrs. Cyr and Fernandes move that the proposed new draft be amended in section 2A, in item 2200-7026, by adding the following words:- “; provided further, that not less than $50,000,000 shall be expended in financial grants to support remediation, demolition and site preparation at former state-owned hospitals and prisons sold by the Commonwealth on or after January 1, 1975, and that require asbestos, lead or hazardous material remediation, demolition, and site preparation; provided further, that said grants shall be administered by the department in consultation with the executive office of housing and livable communities; provided further, the department shall submit a report including, but not limited to: (i) the name and location of each project, (ii) type of facility and date of disposition; (iii) amount of funding awarded per project; (iv) type of work funded; (v) types of hazardous materials remediated; (vi) planned and projected housing units created; and (vii) identification of projects in environmental justice communities; provided further, that said report shall be submitted not later than June 30, 2028 to the clerks of the house of representatives and the senate and the house and senate committees on ways and means ”; and by striking out the figure “$42,000,000” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- “$92,000,000”
