Maintenance of sensitive records

Mr. Lewis, Ms. Rausch, Ms. Edwards, Ms. Kennedy, Ms. Howard, Ms. Jehlen and Mr. Mark move that the proposed new text be amended by inserting the following section after section 5:-

"SECTION 5A. Section 34D of said Chapter 71 shall be amended by adding the following sentence:- "The board of education shall also adopt regulations no later than September 1, 2026 to prohibit school districts, charter schools, and educational collaboratives from maintaining information or documentation in a student’s record that indicates a student’s citizenship or immigration status, including but not limited to, a student’s birth certificate."
