Relative to the Integrity of the State Funded Legal Defense Programs

Mr. Tarr moves that the proposed new text be amended by inserting at the end the following section:-

"SECTION ___. Notwithstanding any special or general law, rule, or regulation to the contrary, any agency, organization, or other entity receiving public funds for the purpose of providing legal representation in matters involving federal immigration law shall develop and implement mechanisms to ensure that no such funds are provided for the benefit of an individual not lawfully present in the United States, provided that such mechanisms may include, but not be limited to, the requirement of an affidavit from any beneficiary attesting to the fact that, to the best of that individual's knowledge, they are lawfully present, signed under the pains and penalties of perjury. Any such mechanisms shall be submitted to, and approved by, the secretary of administration and finance prior to the disbursement of any such funds."
