Informing and supporting students, families and school employees

Mr. Lewis, Ms. Rausch, Ms. Kennedy, Mr. Eldridge and Ms. Jehlen move that the proposed new text be amended by striking item (vii) of subsection (c) of section 102 of chapter 71 as amended by SECTION 5 and inserting in place thereof the following:- (vii) procedures for informing school officials, school employees, and employees of any contracted student transportation provider about appropriate protocols to ensure the safety and privacy of students in response to civil immigration enforcement activities that may affect the transportation of students to and from school; and (viii) procedures to identify and provide school-based supports to address the learning and mental health needs of students impacted by immigration enforcement actions, including, but not limited to actions resulting in the detention or deportation of a parent, guardian, or other family member; provided that such supports are delivered by school social workers, school counselors, family liaisons or other appropriate school personnel.
