Tardiness

Mr. Keenan moves that the proposed new text be amended by striking out lines 9 to 10, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- "Chronic absenteeism or tardiness", missing or being tardy not less than 10 per cent of days enrolled regardless of whether the absences instances of tardiness are considered excused, unexcused or for disciplinary reasons.”;

in line 78 by inserting after the word "absenteeism" the following words:- " or tardiness";

in line 750 by inserting after the word "absent" the following words:- " or tardy";

by striking out lines 754 to 756, inclusive, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- ""Habitually absent or tardy without permission", a child, not excused from attendance under the lawful and reasonable regulations of such child’s school, who willfully fails to attend school for more than 8 school days in a quarter or arrives tardy not less than 10 per cent of days enrolled regardless of whether the instances of tardiness are considered excused, unexcused or for disciplinary reasons."; and

in line 1099 by inserting after the word "quarter" the following words:- " or has been tardy not less than 10 per cent of days enrolled regardless of whether the instances of tardiness are considered excused, unexcused or for disciplinary reasons".
