Ms. Miranda moved that the proposed new text be amended in section 2, in item 7008-1116, "In section 2, in item 7008-1116, by adding the following words:- “provided, further, that not less than $125,000 shall be expended for the Massachusetts Cabo Verdean Cultural Center Commission established in chapter 1 of the resolves of 2024 for the purpose of supporting the work of the commission, including, but not limited to, the procurement of a consultant to conduct a feasibility study, the facilitation of statewide listening sessions and community engagement activities, administrative support, research, planning and other duties necessary to carry out the commission’s responsibilities”; and by striking out the figure “$100,000” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- ""$225,000”; and

by inserting after section 36 the following section:-

SECTION 36A. Chapter 1 of the resolves of 2024, is hereby amended by striking out the last paragraph  and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-

“All initial appointments to the commission shall be made not later than May 31, 2026; provided, however, that appointing authorities may make additional appointments to fill vacancies as they arise. The commission shall hold its first meeting not later than June 15, 2025. The commission shall report its findings and recommendations, including any legislation to carry out its recommendations, to the clerks of the senate and house of representatives not later than December 31, 2027.”; and "
