Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section one of chapter forty-one of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the board of selectmen of the town of Fairhaven shall appoint a suitable person, who need not be a resident of the town, collector of taxes for a term of not more than three years and may remove him at any time for cause after a hearing. Upon the taking of the oath of office by such person so appointed, the term of the existing collector of taxes shall terminate.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
