Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. Chapter three hundred and thirty of the acts of nineteen hundred and seventy-nine is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. The Wakefield Police Relief Association, Inc. is hereby authorized to pay, upon the retirement from the police department of the town of Wakefield of any member in good standing who has been a member for at least twenty years, upon a written request filed with the secretary of the Association within ninety days of such retirement and upon the surrender of the members certificate of member, to such member the sum of seven thousand dollars which shall be in lieu of any death benefit otherwise payable upon the death of such member and such member shall cease to be a member.
Said member may elect to receive the sum of five thousand dollars and two thousand dollars shall be paid as a death benefit upon the death of said member.
