AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS IN THE TOWN OF SUTTON.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. The charter of the town of Sutton which is
on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in
section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking
out section 3-4.
SECTION 2. The bylaws of the town of Sutton are hereby amended by
adding the following bylaw:
(a) Composition, Term of Office - There shall be a cemetery
commission which shall consist of three members appointed by the board of
selectmen for terms of three years each so arranged that the term of one member
shall expire each year.
(b) Powers and Duties - The cemetery commission shall have general
charge and superintendence of all burial grounds within the town and any land
set aside by the town for cemetery purposes. Said cemetery commission shall
have all other powers and duties conferred upon cemetery commissions
by general law and such additional powers and duties as may be provided by town
bylaw or by town meeting vote.
SECTION 3. Members of the cemetery commission now in office shall
continue in office until the expiration of the term to which they were elected.
Upon the expiration of said term, their successors shall be appointed as
provided for in section two.
SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
