Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding the provisions of section eight C of chapter forty of the General Laws, the city known as the town of Methuen may, by ordinance, provide for two alternate members of the conservation commission. Said alternate members may be designated by the chairman of said conservation commission to sit on said conservation commission in the case of absence, inability to act, or conflict of interest on the part of any members thereof; or, in the event of a vacancy on the commission until said vacancy is filled in accordance with the provisions of said section eight C of said chapter forty.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
