Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. All positions now or hereafter listed in the town of West Springfield classification plan by-law in the "S" classification shall be exempt from the provisions of chapter thirty-one of the General Laws, including but not limited to, all positions in the following offices, boards or departments: board of assessors, accounting department, building department, council on aging, board of selectmen, board of health, recreation department, planning department, town clerk, town treasurer, town collector, and veterans services department; and in the department of public works: the superintendent, all deputy superintendents, town engineer, all assistant civil engineers and junior civil engineers, all senior clerk typists, all junior clerk typists, office manager, tree warden, water service inspector, and all typists; and in the fire department: secretary and clerk; and in the police department: secretary, all dispatchers, and all police records clerk matrons.
SECTION 2. The provisions of section one of this act shall not impair the civil service status of any person holding any such position in the town of West Springfield on the effective date of this act.
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
