AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE SALE OF "READY-TO-EAT FOOD".
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 94 of the General Laws, as
appearing in the 1992 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after
the definition of "Paint", the following definition:-
"Ready-to-eat Food", a restaurant style food offered or exposed for sale,
whether in restaurants, supermarkets or similar food service establishments,
that is ready for consumption, though not necessarily on the premises where
sold. Ready-to-eat food shall not include luncheon products, such as meat,
poultry or cheese, when sold separately.
SECTION 2. Section 176 of said chapter 94, as
so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the first sentence
the following sentence:- As defined in section one, ready-to-eat
food sold from bulk or in single servings packed on the premises, may be sold
by weight, measure or count; provided, however, that count shall include
