Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
SECTION 1. Article 3 of the charter of the town of Natick which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section twelve of chapter forty-three B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out section 3-2 (a) and inserting in place thereof the following section:-
Section 3-2 (a) Board of Selectmen. There shall be a board of selectmen to consist of five members elected for terms of three years each. Members of the board of selectmen now in office shall serve until their terms expire. At the annual town election of nineteen hundred and ninety-seven one person shall be elected for a term of three years, one person shall be elected for a term of two years and one person shall be elected for a term of one year. Persons elected thereafter shall be elected for terms of three years.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its acceptance by the town of Natick.
