AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF A TREASURER/COLLECTOR IN THE TOWN OF NORTON.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
Subsection (a) of section 3-1 of the charter of the town
of Norton, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth,
as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby
amended by striking out, in lines 4 and 5, the words "a town
Section 3-6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking
out subsection (a) and inserting in place thereof the following
Term of Office.
There shall be a town collector/treasurer appointed
accordance with the provisions of subsection (b) of section 4-2.
This act shall be submitted for acceptance to the voters
of the town of Norton at the next subsequent annual town election in the form
of the following question which shall be placed on the official ballot to be
used for the election of town officers at said election:
"Shall an act passed
by the General Court in the year 2000 entitled 'An Act providing for the
appointment of a treasurer/collector in the town of Norton', be accepted?"
majority of the votes cast in answer to said question is in the affirmative,
sections 1 and 2 of this act shall therefore take full effect, but not
SECTION 4. Section 3 shall take effect upon its passage.
