AN ACT RELATIVE TO THE HARBORMASTER, ASSISTANT HARBORMASTERS, SHELLFISH WARDEN AND ASSISTANT SHELLFISH WARDENS OF THE TOWN OF FAIRHAVEN.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives
in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same,
Notwithstanding the provisions of any general or special
law to the contrary, the harbormaster, assistant harbormasters, shellfish
warden and assistant shellfish wardens for the town of Fairhaven shall be
appointed by the board of selectmen of the town for terms not less than one
nor more than three years, and any of them may be removed for cause by the
board of selectmen before the expiration of the term.
This act shall apply to the
harbormaster, assistant harbormasters, shellfish warden and
assistant shellfish wardens holding office on the effective date of this act,
except that each of their current terms in office
shall expire on the date originally established at the time of this appointment
to that term, or three years from the date of that appointment, whichever is
