AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE LICENSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF WOBURN TO GRANT 8 ADDITIONAL LICENSES FOR THE SALE OF ALL ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO BE DRUNK ON THE PREMISES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows:
SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding section 17 of chapter 138 of the General Laws, the licensing authority of the city of Woburn may grant up to 8 additional licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages to be drunk on the premises under section 12 of said chapter 138; provided, however, that the licenses shall be granted within any of the 4 geographical zones as hereinafter described; and provided further, that not more than 2 such licenses shall be granted in any 1 zone.
(b) Liquor zones A, B, C and D are hereby established and comprise the area designated on the city of Woburn zoning map as the “Commerce Way Corridor Overlay District”. The specific properties contained within each respective zone are as shown on the city of Woburn assessors maps, designated as follows:
(i) Liquor Zone A; (ii) Liquor Zone B; (iii) Liquor Zone C; and (iv) Liquor Zone D.
(c) The licensing authority shall not approve the transfer of a license issued within 1 liquor zone to a location outside that liquor zone of original issuance. A license granted under this section shall not be transferable to any other person, corporation or organization. If a license granted under this section, is revoked or no longer in use at the street address of issuance, it shall be returned physically, with all of the legal rights and privileges pertaining thereto, to the licensing authority which may then grant the license to a new applicant at the same street address under the same conditions as specified in this act provided that the applicant files with the authority a letter from the department of revenue indicating that the license is in good standing with the department and that all applicable taxes have been paid.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
