Gaskey","Type":1,"Details":"https://malegislature.gov/api/GeneralCourts/194/LegislativeMembers/JRG2","ResponseDate":"2025-04-17T20:58:37.477"},"Category":"Public Safety","Action":"Consolidated","RollCall":[],"Title":"Supporting the people who protect the Commonwealth","Branch":"House","RedraftNumber":null,"IsFurther":false,"GeneralCourtNumber":194,"Text":"Mr. Gaskey of Carver moves to amend the bill in section 2, in item 8324-0050, by removing the language \"For the Commonwealths local fire departments\" and inserting the following language:\r\n\r\nAll firefighters employed as a full-time paid employee of a fire department of the State or a City, Town, Fire or Water District, or as an on-call firefighter of a fire department of the State or a City, Town, Fire or Water District, shall be provided cancer screening examinations conducted by a physician not less than three years after the start of the firefighter’s employment as a firefighter and every three years thereafter during the course of the firefighter’s employment.  This monitoring shall continue for the duration of a firefighter’s life if the firefighter is employed by a fire department of the State or a City, Town, Fire or Water District for a minimum of 20 years.\r\n\r\nThe examination shall include screening for, at a minimum and when applicable, the following cancers:\r\nColon; Lung; Bladder; Oral; Thyroid; Skin; Blood; Breast; Cervical; Testicular; and Prostate.\r\nAll costs associated with screenings provided under this section shall be borne by the firefighter’s health care benefits plan or program provided by the firefighter’s employer. No co-payment, deductible, coinsurance, or any out-of-pocket expense shall be required for such examinations.\r\n\r\nAnd further amended by striking out the figures \"$100,000\" and inserting in place thereof the figures \"$1,000,000\".\r\n"}
