Section 250 of chapter 111 of the General Laws, inserted by section 8, is hereby amended by inserting after paragraph (2) of subsection (b) the following paragraph:-\r\n(3) The department shall ensure that all public education, outreach and informational materials developed pursuant to this section are made available in the most commonly spoken languages in the commonwealth, as determined by the executive office of health and human services. Such materials shall be culturally and linguistically appropriate and accessible to individuals with limited English proficiency.\r\nThe department shall ensure that public education events, workshops and community outreach activities conducted pursuant to this section provide language interpretation services, as appropriate, to ensure meaningful access for individuals with limited English proficiency.\r\nThe department shall collaborate with municipalities, local boards of health, councils on aging, community health centers and community-based organizations to assess the language access needs of cities and towns. Based on those assessments, the department shall make educational materials, outreach resources and interpretation services available in the languages most commonly spoken by residents of each community to ensure equitable access to information, services and support for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and their caregivers.\r\n\r\n"}
