Sweezey","Type":1,"Details":"https://malegislature.gov/api/GeneralCourts/194/LegislativeMembers/KPS1","ResponseDate":"2026-06-16T16:01:09.93"},"Category":null,"Action":"Consolidated","RollCall":[],"Title":"Beach Access & Wildlife Guidelines Review","Branch":"House","RedraftNumber":null,"IsFurther":false,"GeneralCourtNumber":194,"Text":"Mr. Sweezey of Duxbury moves to amend the bill by adding the following section: \r\n“SECTION XXXX:\r\nSECTION 1.\r\nThe Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, within the department of fish and game, shall conduct a comprehensive review and update of its Guidelines for Managing Recreational Use of Beaches to Protect Piping Plovers, Terns, and Their Habitats in Massachusetts not later than 2 years after the effective date of this act.\r\nSECTION 2.\r\nIn conducting the review and update required under this section, the division shall actively consult with all applicable municipal or regional beach managers responsible for the oversight and enforcement of said guidelines and shall incorporate feedback into any proposed revisions.\r\nSECTION 3.\r\nThe division shall convene not fewer than 2 public hearings prior to issuing any updated guidelines to solicit public comment. Notice of each hearing shall be posted not fewer than 30 days in advance. Such hearings shall be held within applicable coastal communities; provided, however, that no single community shall host both hearings required under this section.\r\nSECTION 4.\r\nFollowing the initial update required under this act, the division may conduct subsequent reviews and updates of the guidelines as it deems necessary; provided, however, that any such future updates shall include consultation with municipal stakeholders and an opportunity for public comment\".\r\n"}
