Gómez and Oliveira and Ms. Edwards move that the proposed new text be amended by inserting the following section:-\r\n\"SECTION X. Subsection (i) of section 1J of chapter 69 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by adding the following 2 sentences:-\r\nTeachers employed by Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership, Inc. shall be subject to the state teacher retirement system under chapter 32 and service in Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership, Inc. shall be creditable service within the meaning thereof. For the purposes of this subsection, the word “teacher” shall mean a person any teacher, supervisor, director, superintendent, or principal, and any other person who works in a position that would make them eligible to be a member of the teachers’ retirement system if their position were performed in a public school including, but not limited to, positions that are eligible for MTRS membership by title in public schools.\"\r\n"}
